BSA is promoting a new TV show called "Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?", which will be aired on the National Geographic channel. The show premieres March 4 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. BSA didn't consult with me on this one, so I can't vouch for the quality of the program content. :) Here is a link to the show's promo video.

Troop 479 service project is on for tomorrow morning. We will be picking up food donations in the Prestonwood Forest neighborhood for the "Souper Bowl of Caring" food drive. Please meet at Feb. 2 @ 10:00AM at the Prestonwood Forest Clubhouse, which is located at 13702 Prestonwood Forest Drive (behind Hancock Elementary School).

We will be camping at Lake Somerville on January 19-20. This campout is a backpacker so please prepare accordingly. Meet at the church at 7:30am on Saturday Morning. The plan is to return by 11am on Sunday. Eat breakfast before you come and bring roadkill money.

On December 15th, we will meet at Church at 8am and will drive down together. Upon completion we will drive back together back to the church. We should return around 1pm.

Hello everyone.

Its about that time again. Winter Camp. This year it will be Dec 26-31 at Camp Strake located just North of Houston off I45. It is a great time to get 4-5 merit badges. For the younger Scouts, its a great place to learn what an extended camp is all about, without the heat of the summer. The merit badge list should be posted Nov 1st, so keep your eyes open for just the right ones. Ian and I plan to attend and are looking forward to having others join us. As time gets closer, we will have a couple of meeting to discuss what and how we will participate. Please email me and cc the Scout Master and Committee chair if you are going to attend Winter Camp.
