University of Scouting 2009

Posted on Jan 8 2009 - 6:15pm

Adults,

Once a year, one of the best Scout-related training programs for adults (and some Boy Scout training, too) is offered in Houston, Texas. Over 100 courses & workshops will be offered on virtually every subject relating to the Scouting program. Our Troop is committed to having trained leaders guiding our Scouts. This is an excellent opportunity for new adult leaders to complete their minimum required training for their chosen volunteer position (ask me if you don't know what I'm talking about). For those who are not new, this is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge and trade "best practices" with over 1000 other fellow adult leaders from the Houston area. I have attended two University of Scouting events and have found them to be excellent investments of my time. I am personally requesting that every adult leader review their calendar and make time, if possible, to attend University of Scouting this year.

Summer Camp 2008 - Sid Richardson (Ft. Worth)

Posted on Dec 9 2008 - 9:08pm

Scouts & Scouters,

As usual, just as it starts to cool off (kinda of, anyway) it's time to lock down our reservations for summer camp. Your PLC has decided on attending summer camp "in-state" this year at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch. Scouts aged 14 or older have the option of attending the Chisolm Trail High Adventure camp, which is located at the same lake, just west of Ft. Worth. Total costs are conservatively expected to be approximately $375 and $500 each, respectively.

Scouts & Scouters,

Your troop leadership has decided to participate in the Salvation Army's "Secret Santa Workshop" this year. We will be assisting at the Salvation Army's warehouse in separating, classifying, wrapping, and otherwise preparing donated gifts to be given to area underprivileged children and senior citizens. Mark your calendar for:
