Our twice-annual Court of Honor is fast approaching, but please make note in your calendar that we have changed the date of the Fall Court of Honor to Sunday, Oct. 26th at 5:00 p.m. This change was made to accommodate the change in school calendars as a result of Hurricane Ike.

Parents and Scouts,

We've got 3 adults and 8 scouters going to Winter Camp. It's time to start thinking about what merit badge classes you want to sign up for. In the Winter Camp 2008 section on the left or attached is all of the information you should need to make your choices for winter camp. Please take a look at the list and let me know by Wednesday, October 29th (by email) what classes you want. You will be able to sign up for a maximum of 5 merit badge classes and most of you should receive 4 out of your top 5 choices; however, be sure to list at least 8 choices.

Good News...Camp Strake and Camp Bovay will be operational starting this Friday, Sept. 26. The Camps suffered some damage from Hurricane Ike, but power has been restored, roads cleared of debris, and the campsites are being readied for normal activities. Of course, Winter Camp is a GO for December!

You should have been contacted by now (perhaps more than once) about the Scout-led Food Drive that will take place on Sunday, Sept. 21 beginning at 2:00 p.m. We will be meeting in the parking lot of the Champions Park subdivision clubhouse, which is located at the corner of Champions Park Blvd. & Walton Heath. We will be finished no later than 5:00 p.m., perhaps earlier. Scout-made signs announcing the Food Drive were placed at the entrances of several subdivisions today. The Scouts will walk the neighborhood to collect non-perishable food products. A few adults have volunteered to follow Scouts in their vehicles and collect the food the Scouts receive. We could use a few additional adult volunteers for this role. The food will be donated to a local food bank and/or homeless shelter. These places have used up the stores of food they normally have as a result of Hurricane Ike.

By now, everyone has hopefully heard that Friends of River event has been CANCELLED this weekend due to Hurricane.

The Winter Camp registration deadline is upon us! The troop must submit a non-refundable deposit of $50 per Scout at SHAC headquarters on Friday, Sept. 12.
